18BC-2 US SPRINGFIELD TO TRAPDOOR CONV.U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor single shot rifle, Serial #87082. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 29” barrel with blade front and military style tangent rear sights. The barrel retains a significantamount of blue finish with the remainder going to brown patina with some light to moderate surface rust and erosion noted. The receiver shows muted, toning case hardening as well as on the side plate. The smoothwood stock is in good condition showing moderate wear and use with mars and compressions consistent with service use. The stock includes sling swivels, ramrod and ends with smooth steel US marked butt platewhich is slightly proud at the toe. The bore is fair, the action crisp and markings are sharp.
