Ludwig & Loewe Model 1891 Spanish Cavalry bolt action carbine, 7.65 x 53mm caliber, 18” barrel, blued finish, wood stock, saddle ring, S/N 3246, no import marks, overall very good + condition with very good bore, crispaction, sharp markings and very good wood with right side of butt stock stamped “2 I B”. Accompanied by note from consignor covering information on Ludwig & Loewe orders of this carbine, indicating use of gun bySpanish in Morocco, then shipment to Cuba where it was captured by US forces during the Spanish-American War and sent to the Springfield Armory in 1898; also noted by consignor is that it was auctioned off to the public January 3-4, 1899 and that this exact example was used in Ball’s book, p. 323-324 on Mauser Military Rifles of the World.
