Interesting lot of 4 pieces of wood; each with old tags attached directly on each piece, time worn and faded; the first has an additional newer tag that states “Libby Prison; This piece of wood was taken from the Lot Title old Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia by T.H. Savage”.; the second piece has an additional newer tag that states “Fragment tree; This piece of wood is from the largest tree under which Albert Sidney Johnson, confederate Lot Title General at the Battle of Shiloh, Tenn., April 6 & 7, 1862, was placed after receiving his fatal wounds from which effect he soon after died.”; the third piece has an additional newer tag that states “This is a piece of a Lot Title limb on a tree upon which 45 union men were hanged during the civil war at different times. The tree was in Texas”; and the forth piece has an additional newer tag that states “This piece of wood is from the old Lot Title tree that stood in the Boston Common, known so well by the New Englanders.
