While in Zimbabwe in 2015, Patty and Terry Ehrhardt were fortunate enough to spend an afternoon with the Lowveld Rhino Trust (LRT) and Rhino Veterinarian Dr Chap Masterson in the Save Valley Conservancy. The LRT are responsible for all rhino welfare in the South-Eastern Lowveld of Zimbabwe. Their main duties entail keeping a close inventory of all the rhinos, ear-notching and dehorning. They work closely with anti-poaching units such as the Save Valley’s Special Species Protection Unit (SSPU). Together they monitor and protect these highly endangered creatures and have through their efforts, and those of the Safari Operators in the Save, managed to increase the Save Valley Rhino Herd to 120 Black Rhino and 41 White Rhino. Patty and Terry helped with 2 Rhinos darted that day. These quilts are made from material purchased in Zimbabwe. The proceeds will be given to the Save Valley’s Special Species Protection Unit in Zimbabwe.
