First time donor, Buffalo Creek Ranch, offers this five day, rifle Bull Elk hunt for one hunter. This hunt is scheduled for the coveted first week of the Colorado rifle Elk season - October 14- 18, 2017. The hunt includes 2X1 guide services – professional guides are full time employees of the ranch who know “their own backyard” exceptionally well! Meals and accommodations are included and provided in Buffalo Creek’s luxurious lodge. Transportation during this hunt will be by 4 x 4 vehicles and by foot – no horses! Hunting methods during this hunt will include spot and stalk, still hunting, stand hunting and the use of elevated shooting houses. Filed dressing of animals, skinning and caping of trophy are included. Buffalo Creek Ranch maintains its own, on-site meat processing facility including walk-in cooler and freezer. The ranch is usually able to process hunter’s harvested game. Hunter is responsible for transportation to and from the ranch (1 hour east of Steamboat Springs and three hours Northwest of Denver. Additionally, hunter is responsible for the cost ($641) and acquisition of a Colorado Elk license (must be purchased on-line – outfitter will assist with the process – deadline is April 4, 2017 - this is a 100% draw.); lodging tax and tips.
Buffalo Creek has been guiding Elk hunters for 27 years with a 90% success rate of hunters harvesting an Elk. The ranch strictly limits the number of hunters each year. A maximum of only eight hunters are taken on the ranch’s 20,000 privately held acres during the first week of the season. The first week is the most coveted as the weather is milder, many of the bulls are still bugling, and the animals have received no hunting pressure.
This hunt may be upgraded to include; additional hunters ($8,400 each) and/or non-hunters depending on space availability ($300 per day) and/or upgraded from a rifle hunt to an archery hunt as long as a second hunter accompanies the winning bidder (archery hunts are 2x1 so a hunting buddy is necessary to upgrade to an archery hunt).
