barrel, grey patina, wood grips, S/N 8275 (all matching visible numbers), very good + original condition showing smooth gray metal patina with traces of blue and case colors where protected. Bottom of right grip period carved in block letters “4th” over “SGT. A.C. (for A Company). All correct and matching parts; grips very good + with minor chips and losses but impeccable fit with faint remnants of the outline of the cartouche. Correct hammer, ejector rod housing, pin and small parts. Exceptional bore and crisp hammer with colors showing; sight reduced very slightly. A strong 8 on a 42745 scale; 4th Cav. range which went to Texas and were frontier engagements in the era of Quana Parker. Ex-Chuck Manuel collection (early California collector who collected Colts for over 50 years); his favorite single action revolver sold to a close friend as 1st pick from his collection. This is an honest Ainsworth! Also accompanied by a brass uniform insignia of “4” over crossed sabers.
