Early 18th century European Flintlock Horseman's size pistol signed "I Deprea" under Frizzen spring. 20" plus overall with 13 1/2" bbl of approx .62 cal. smoothbore. Stocked in fine striped walnut with qualitymolding and carving. The mounts, lock and bbl show masters quality chisling and piercing. The sideplate has been broken and 40% lost. Original flint with correct small parts and metal and stock very good plus for its agewhich we place at 1720-1740's. Ramrod is a replacement. This style pistol was carried to the America's in the Colonial Period and many used in French, Indian and Revolutionary War Era as General "Mad" Anthony Wayne owned a similare Continental made pair of Horseman's size Flint pistols.
