Historic Colt Army Special DA revolver, .32 W.C.F. caliber, 4.5” barrel, blued finish, pearl grips with period inscription on left grip “Presented to Marshal J. L. Moffett by his Coalinga Friends/Xmas 1909”, S/N 313949,in overall very good + condition displaying considerable original blued finish mixed with brown patina and some holster wear with minor spots of light erosion; crisp action, good markings and a very good bore. Thegrips are beautifully iridescent and the inscription shows considerable black enamel fill in the lettering. Accompanying this gun are copies of two photos of the “Coalinga Toggery” baseball team with Marshal Moffettstanding with the group in front of bleachers that are packed with fans. Additionally, there are several copies of newspaper, census, and postcard notices of wanted persons related to City Marshal Moffett.Additional research on Moffett should provide the successful bidder with more information on Moffett’s career.
