Wheelock powder flask of flattened and carved cow horn originally made in 16th-17th century and remounted in brass during the 19th century showing slight reduction in size. The body is now 8” and was 9” plus. The original iron belt hook is retained. It is our theory that the iron mounts were rusted an obsolete so owner had a smith fashion brass mounting with spring charger for fowling piece during the 19th century. Thecondition is very good plus and an interesting flask that may well have traveled to colonies where nothing in the way of guns or accessories were wasted and often recycled and upgraded to newer options.(Antique) Est.: $600-$1200
