17ML-1 WINCHESTER MDL 70 #15403Winchester Pre- WWII Model 70 bolt action rifle, .30/06 caliber, Serial #15403. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 24” barrel with a ramped blade front and rear sight removed. The barrel retains asignificant amount of its blue finish with numerous scratches and loss at the muzzle. The receiver shows the majority of its muted blue finish while the magazine base and trigger have been polished. The checkeredwood stock is in good condition showing moderate wear with mars and compressions consistent with field use. The butt ends with a rubber recoil pad and a social security number has been etched into thepistol grip. The rifle is topped with a Redfield one-piece base and a Lyman All-American 4X fixed power scope. The lot includes sling swivels and a period leather rifle sling. The bore is fair and mayclean, the action is crisp and markings are sharp on this desirable, early Model 70 circa 1938. Est.: $500-$1,000.
