Argentium Sterling Silver Chain Maille Necklace in Full Persian Weave, handcrafted by Sandy Froman, with removable cultured pearl and quartz sterling silver pendant

This 21” chain maille necklace, handcrafted by former NRA President Sandy Froman, is made of Argentium Sterling Silver and executed in classic Full Persian weave. The removable pendant, by Bobby Duggan, combines pearl and quartz stones in a sterling silver setting.

Chain maille jewelry begins with wire that is coiled around a mandrel and then saw cut along the length of the mandrel to make individual round jump rings. The rings are smoothed and polished and then woven by hand using jewelry pliers to create a particular weave. Argentium is made by combining pure silver with a tarnish resistant alloy, in this case Germanium, to make tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Chain maille patterns date back to the 4th Century BC, and maille armour was highly prized in the Middle Ages when it could mean the difference between life and death to the wearer.

Value: $945

Generously 100% donated by Sandy Froman, past NRA president and current NRA WLF Executive Committee member.
