AK WSF Dall Sheep Conservation Legacy Bronze
Alaska Dall Sheep Conservation Legacy Bronze - The Alaska Wild Sheep Foundation is pleased to debut a unique Conservation Statue for auction at this year’s banquet. Renowned sculptor Frank Enstsminger has been commissioned to create a special bronze statue of a Dall sheep moving up an Alaskan mountainside. The head and horns of the Dall ram will be modeled directly after the world record muzzleloader Dall sheep taken by Bob Hodson. The statue will be approximately 24 inches in height and the base will be tiered walnut to both represent a mountain and allow for the placement of engraved name plates. Each year, the winning bidder of this item will have their name and the year engraved on a plate and attached to the base. The winning bidder will also receive a small commemorative statue affectionately known as the “Barney” featuring the head and shoulders of the Dall sheep mounted on a walnut base with their name, the name of the award and the year. The cost of the statue and subsequent commemorative versions has been fully underwritten allowing AK WSF to contribute 100% of the proceeds of the auction to “Keeping sheep on the mountains of Alaska.” Between banquets the bronze will be displayed at Barney’s Sports Chalet in Anchorage until a more suitable location is found. The delivery date of the final product is not expected until the 2018 Annual Alaska Wild Sheep Foundation Banquet but AK WSF is offering the inaugural concept version at this year’s live auction.
