1 JAPANESE STYLE SWORD & 3 KATANAS.
1) JAPANESE STYLE SWORD OF POSSIBLE CHINESE ORIGIN. Overall length: 35". Blade length: 26". An interesting sword w/ an unsharpened katana shaped blade. There is an etched panel at the base w/ what appears to be a Republic of China naval flag over 2 characters & “46127”. The other side is etched w/ 12 characters. Brass tsuba & brass tsuka in a shin-gunto form. Saya is brown painted w/ gold highlights including a dragon, several characters, 3 cherry blossoms & another flag resembling a Republic of China naval flag. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray mottled patina. Tsuka has lost much of its original finish but remains quite solid. Scabbard retains its intricately designed gold decoration. (02-13721/BF). 2) JAPANESE KATANA. Overall length: 38". Blade length: 27 3/4". There is a 24" hi on 1 side w/ 2 short narrow 4 1/2" hi on the other. Habaki seems to be copper. Nakago has a single mekugi-ana & has a 6 character signature. There is 1 seppa above & below the tsuba. Tsuba is gold washed bronze showing cherry blossoms on 1 side & a woman & a child on the other side. Fuchi & kashira match as do the menuki. White same w/ black tsuka-ito. Black enameled saya w/ matching fuchi. CONDITION: blade shows a fine polish. Tsuka shows light to moderate wear. Fuchi, kashira & tsuba all have similar patinas. Saya may be repainted. (02-13722/BF). 3) JAPANESE KATANA BLADE IN STORAGE MOUNTS. Overall length: 37". Blade length: 25". Blade does not have a discernable hamon & appears to have been improperly sharpened. Brass habaki. Unsigned straight nakago w/ a single mekugi-ana. Wood shirasaya w/ brown leather covering. CONDITION: blade has been overcleaned & sharpened. Shirasaya is quite solid. Leather shows scuffing & has a broken snap attachment. (02-13723/BF). 4) JAPANESE WWII NCO KATANA. Overall length: 39". Blade length: 27 3/4". A classic WWII katana w/ a full length hi on both sides of the blade. Top of blade is S# 94921. Brass habaki. Iron tsuba. Aluminum tsuka. Shin-gunto saya w/ brown paint. Saya is not meant for this sword & likely dates to WWI. CONDITION: blade is heavily pitted & shows improper sharpening. All painted finish is gone from the tsuka. Saya shows light to moderate wear.
