LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX. Cal. 45-70. S# 01225NY6CT. Bbl. 22". 1 of only 3,000 Model 1886 High Grade lever action saddle ring carbines mfg. in Japan and imported/retailed by Browning Arms Company. Left side of the rnd. bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN JAPAN", followed by the cal. designation at the breech, with "1 OF 3000" marked over the top of the bbl., and the model and cal. designations marked on the right. Left side of receiver features near full coverage engraving of a scene of 2 gold inlaid deer, with the right featuring ensuite engraving of a scene of 2 gold inlaid bears. Receiver and lever exhibit a polished finish, with the bbl., mag. tube, bolt assembly, saddle ring, and buttplate exhibiting a blue finish. Trigger exhibits a gold plated finish. Nicely figured checkered wood straight grip buttstock and forend. Blade front sight with ladder rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box. CONDITION: near new, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory finishes overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting what appears to be a concentrated area of light to mild pitting towards the muzzle, and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture is very good to excellent, showing a few mild superficial handling marks. Box shows exterior wear, with a few tears and small holes from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-1588/MLW). MODERN. $2,000-3,000.
