3’ x 4’ double applique embroidered on maroon field, the color adopted for medical units in 1902, motto: “SERVIMUS”, We Serve, crest in eagle’s shield, WW2.This unit formed in 1938 as a component of the Michigan National Guard. Units of the Michigan and Wisconsin National Guard had formed the core of the 32nd Infantry Division since its formation for World War One in July 1917. The division served in active combat in France during the war to its very end in November 1918. The division deactivated in 1919 but was restored in 1924. The division conducted various training exercises during the inter-war era but was never filled to listed roster.

In 1940, Congress Federalized 18 National Guard divisions including the 32nd Division. When The United States entered World War two, the division spent 16 months training in Louisiana and other sites until shipped to the Pacific. The division arrived in Australia in May 1942. By September they were deployed to New Guinea for the campaign to remove Japanese troops from that area. Their service there concluded with the taking of Buna. I March 1943, the division as back in Australia for refitting and more training.

In January 1944, the division took part in the liberation of western New Guinea for taking part in the campaign to liberate the Philippines landing on Leyte in November 1944. In January 1945, the division landed on Luzon where four members would earn the Medal of Honor (out of the eleven issued to the division). With the end of the war in September 1945, the division posted to Japan for occupation duty, returning home in February 1946 after being deactivated. No other U.S. Army division had been in constant combat as had the 32nd Infantry Division.

The 107th Medical Regiment must have undergone a transformation to battalion status for only a 107th Medical Battalion is listed in the World War Two roster of divisional units for the 32nd Infantry Division.
