1) SOUTH CAROLINA. Albert # SC-15-A. Face depicts the seal of South Carolina and the reverse is marked, "H T & B * MANCHESTER * ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: non-dug button with 85% gilded finish.
2, 3, 4) SOUTH CAROLINA. 3 Albert # SC-16-A buttons. Faces depict the seal of South Carolina and the reverses are marked, "VAN WART . SON & CO: * ". Full shanks. CONDITION: non-dug buttons with 50% gilded finish. 1 Shank is bent.
5) NORTH CAROLINA. Albert # SU-55. Face depicts a crossed saber and quill flanked by "M" and "I" with "CHARLOTTE" above and "N. C." below. The reverse is marked RMDC, "SCOVILL MFG CO. . WATERBURY . ". Full shank. CONDITION: non-dug button with 85% gilded finish. Shank is slightly bent.
6) NORTH CAROLINA. Albert # SU-55. Face depicts a crossed saber and quill flanked by "M" and "I" with "CHARLOTTE" above and "N. C." below. The reverse is marked RMDC, "SCOVILL MFG CO. . WATERBURY . ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: non-dug button with 80% gilded finish. There is a slight push in the 9 o'clock position.
7) SOUTH CAROLINA. Albert # SC-15-B-1. Face depicts the seal of South Carolina. The reverse is marked, "SCHUYLER. H.& G. N. Y. ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: non-dug button with 20% gilded finish. There is an extremely slight push in the face of the button.
8, 9) SOUTH CAROLINA. 2 Albert # SC-14-Av buttons. Faces depict the seal of South Carolina. The reverses are marked, "HORSTMANN & ALLIEN . N . Y . ". Full straight shanks. CONDITION: non-dug buttons. 1 Button has 90% gilded finish, the other has traces of gilded finish.
10) SOUTH CAROLINA. Pre-war Charlston Police button. Face depicts the seal of Charlston with "CHARLSTON" above and "POLICE" below.
The reverse is marked RMDC, "SCOVILL MG CO WATERBURY ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: excavated button with 15% gilded finish with the remainder of the button having a dark excavated patina. There is a push in the face of the button.
11) SOUTH CAROLINA. Albert # SC-15-Av. Face depicts the seal of South Carolina. The reverse is blank or illegible. Full straight shank. CONDITION: excavated button with a dark excavated patina throughout.
12) SOUTH CAROLINA. Albert # SC-13-A. Face depicts the seal of South Carolina. The reverse is marked RMDC, "SCOVILLS & CO: * WATERBURY * ". No shank. CONDITION: excavated button with 50% gilded finish. There is a push in the face of the button.
13) CONFEDERATE STAFF. Albert # CS-5-A5. Face depicts a drooped winged eagle on plinth surrounded by 11 stars. The reverse is marked, "EXTRA RICH . TREBLE GILT . ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: non-dug button with 80% gilded finish. (02-16734/BF). $900-1,200.
