17HT-2 COLT NAVY #1453Colt 1851 Navy 2nd model squareback revolver, S/N 1453 in early production range and made in the California gold rush era. This revolver remains in good to very good original as found condition with traces offinish mixed in a brown patina. Scattered light to moderate pitting mostly on the barrel probably from holstering. The frame is crisp as is the cylinder with 70%-80% original scene remaining and good Ornsbysignature. Good barrel address and mostly visible very small Colt’s patent on the frame. The grips show 40%-60% varnish and are at least very good plus but not quite fine showing minor wear and aging. 90% plus thickold original sliver plate that is darkened. Some “tapping” marks on the bottom of the grips and strap. All matching visible serial numbers. An absolutely original and early 2nd model with the appearance collectors likeand above average for this variation.
