Contribution to local Pheasants Forever young hunter program. Interested and qualified youth along with a par-
ent or guardian, are given mentored instruction and experience in upland bird hunting.
Funding of our local Sportsmen Against Hunger program. We cooperate with wild game processors to cut,
wrap and distribute hunter donated game. We have paid for the distribution of nearly 25 tons of nutritious
game meat to those in need within a fifty mile radius of Bozeman, MT.
We sponsor professional educators and students attending The American Wilderness Leadership School
(AWLS) near Jackson, WY. This week long school teaches the vital role of hunting in worldwide wildlife con-
servation. Educator attendees can achieve Archery in the Schools certification and bring the program back to
their schools.
We aid in the purchase of archery equipment for local school programs taught by AWLS certified instructors.
We contribute to the Montana Mallards program to give youth and wounded warriors waterfowl hunting oppor-
tunities on leased property near Dillon, MT.
We collaborated with the Wild Sheep foundation and other SCI chapters to purchase a specialized livestock
trailer used by the MT Fish Wildlife and Parks Dept. for wild sheep management projects.
SWMT SCI has helped finance a once in a lifetime dream trip to Africa for a paraplegic hunter.
SWMT SCI contributes to the travel expenses of local youth shooters competing in world championship match-
es.
We contributed to the science based lion research projects in Kenya to determine if lack of hunting was helping
lion populations there. Commercial selective lion harvest has proven to reduce poaching and add value to this
sustainable and renewable population of lions. Project was co sponsored by artist John Banovich.
The SWMT Chapter of SCI contributes support to the Cheritizi River Black Rhino Trust/anti-poaching force
aiding in the protection and conservation of rhinos and other wildlife in Zimbabwe, Africa.
