CONTRACT PISTOL. Cal. 54. NSN. The last military contract pistol by Simeon North, 3000 pistols were delivered to Brooklyn Navy Yard 1827-1829. Standard configuration with 8 5/8" barrel proofed "US / AH / P". (Asabel Hubbard-inspector). Lock is convex at tail, beveled flat forward of cock, dated "1827" & "US / S. NORTH", 3" belt hook. A vast majority of survivors were converted to percussion like this example and reconverted back to flint configuration for collectors. CONDITION: good overall, smooth dark iron patina, reconversion back to flintlock utilizing new cock & frizzen spring, stock sound with inset repair on bottom, no visible cartouche.
