with Ainsworth inspector’s cartouche on grip. 1 of approximately 800 converted and issued for use by cavalry in the west including Buffalo Soldiers in New Mexico and Arizona preceding the single action in use on the frontier during the Indian war era. S/N 2893 on the frame, barrel, trigger guard, and backstrap with un-numbered conversion cylinder. Conversion #1459 on the Richards ring and #1071 on ejector assembly and lug. The left side of the barrel lug shows “U.S.” mark and “O.W.A.” visible in cartouche on the left grip. Only a handful are matched numbers as they were made from Civil war arms and re-issued. In very good plus condition with traces of finish, 0.6 scene and very good grips. A far better than average U.S. Richards which are more than 10x rarer than Ainsworth S.A.
