1860 FERROTYPE CAMPAIGN TOKEN & CIVIL WAR REUNION

BADGE.
1) A fine example of a Civil War period campaign token from the 1860 election. The token features a ferrotype of John Bell on 1 side surrounded by the words, “JOHN BELL. (flowers) 1860 (flowers) “. The other side shows a ferrotype of Edward Everett surrounded by the words, “EDWARD EVERETT. (flowers) 1860 (flowers) “. Token has a reeded edge. CONDITION: light wear overall w/ some craquelure to both photos.
2) An interesting Civil War reunion badge likely for the Richmond Home Guard of Virginia. The suspension bar features the date “1861” w/ a pinback reverse. The Richmond Home Guard was founded in 1861 & served throughout the war. The shield shaped drop has crossed cavalry sabers w/ “R” above, “H” to the left, “G” to the right & “VA beneath. The back of the suspension bar is marked, “C.A. TWITCHELL 31 CORNHILL (ST. BOSTON)”. Due to a weak stamp, the full address is not legible. CONDITION: badge retains nearly all of its gilded finish showing only minor wear. (02-16753-4/BF). $600-800.
