18AH-1 SPENCER CARBINE #36935Spencer Model 1860 Saddle Ring Carbine, .56 caliber, Serial #36935. The carbine is in good overall condition with a 22” barrel with a silver blade front and military tangent rear sight. The barrel and receiver havegone to a heavy dark brown patina with light surface erosion noted. The action retains the original saddle ring bar and has a replacement washer added to the hammer. The smooth wood stock has seen considerable wearwith mars, dents and compressions consistent with service use. The butt stock has a sling swivel, an old cartouche on both sides of the butt that appears to read, “YORKE” and ends with a smooth steel butt plate.According to the consignor, this Civil War era Spencer descended through the Cartwright Family of Sunflower County, Mississippi and was in the personal collection of Sheriff Cartwright. The bore is fair, the actionfunctions and the markings are legible on this Civil War era Spencer which may be researchable. Est.: $800-$1,600.
