18AP-27 COLT SHOTGUNColt Model 1878 double barrel hammer shotgun, 12 gauge, Serial #11069. The shotgun is in good overall condition with 20” cut down Damascus barrels. The barrels are a grey patina with a steel bead front sight. Thereceiver is a silver/grey patina and the Colt markings are sharp. The checkered wood stock has an interesting repair or reinforcement at the wrist. A brass sleeve has been attached to strengthen the stock.The wood is in good condition with mars and compressions consistent with carry and use. The butt stock ends with a smooth steel butt plate. The shotgun features double trigger and a splinter fore end. Of note, the buttstock is marked, “D & RGW” on the left side of the butt stock for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad.
