18AR-61 PERC TGT P;ISTOLPair of late percussion pistols with back action locks showing small proofs of eagles at the breech (Austrian or Russian?). Measures 19 ½” overall with 13 ½” barrels in .44 caliber smoothbore. 95% bright blue andcase hardening with light colored varnished word stocks. Simple scroll engraving and good quality. No set trigger or sights and these may have been for dueling or “Mock” duels using wax bullets. The absence of sights andsmoothbore in the 1860-90 eras would indicate they were not intended for target. Dueling schools were ran in Paris till turn of the century and in South America far later.
