18AZ-1 GEW 98 MAUSER #4366ICustom Gewehr 98 Mauser bolt action rifle, approximately 8mm caliber, Serial #4366I. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 29” barrel with a ramped blade front and rear sight removed. The barrel and receiverhave gone to grey patina with some light surface erosion noted. The front ring is marked, “AMBERG” and dated 1916 and a Redfield peep sight has been added during the period of use. The custom checkered woodstock is in good condition with a well-executed fleur-de-lis pattern, showing moderate wear and ending with a ventilated rubber butt pad providing a 14 ½” LOP. The bore is fair, the action crisp and markingsare sharp on this WWI era custom Mauser. The consignor notes that the Mauser has been in his family since the conclusion of the WW II. Est.: $350-$700.
