Marlin Model 1881 lever action rifle, .40 caliber, Serial #11286. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 24” octagon barrel with a post front and replacement rear sights. The barrel and full-length magazine Lot Title are primarily a pleasing plum patina with muted blue visible in protected areas. The rifle has, “W.A. FISH” stamped just ahead of the front ring. The receiver is a mixture of old flaking blue finish and brown patina Lot Title with two vacant screw holes on the tang. The lever and hammer show old, toned case hardening and the rifle has double set triggers. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with mars, compressions and an old Lot Title coat of varnish added. The butt stock ends with a smooth, steel crescent butt plate that is slightly proud at the toe. The bore is fair, action is crisp and markings are sharp on this early Model 1881 circa 1885. Lot Title $900-$1,800. (Antique).
