A good European percussion dueling pistol circa 1850 with heavy rifled octagonal barrel and set trigger. 9 and 1/4 inch barrel, 16 inches overall. The front action lock is sparsely engraved with foliage as is thehammer. The barrel is engraved at breech. The carved and checkered highly figured walnut half stock has a steel buttcap, Triggerguard is spurred and engraved en suite with the lock. The action is good, set trigger works, and the bore is excellent. Barrel has what appears to be most of a thin brown finish. The stock is fine but has two visible dents in the right side of wrist. Barrel has no proof marks and lock is unsigned but thequality is very good throughout. A fine heavy percussion dueling pistol made for a strong European of means more than 150 years ago.
