Rare and unusual Ottoman officer’s silvered eagle hilt officer’s shamshir (sword) complete with silvered brass mounted leather scabbard complete with elaborate chain hangers and original buff leather belt. The deeply curved bright fullered 29 inch blade is in excellent condition. The heavy silvered brass eagle hilt in cast and chased. The locket engraved with the Ottoman national emblem featuring a large scimitar over the crescent moon and star. Likely issued to Ottoman general officer’s during WWI. The sword and belt in remarkable condition. The mounts numbered 43 and the blade numbered 42 at ricasso. A most unusual and attractive Ottoman sword of a type we have never seen. Est.: $800-$1600
