Pair of William Powell Birmingham, England made pre-war double shotguns in 12 Ga., #9211 and 9212, 28" barrels, double triggers, auto ejectors, English style straight stocks, with checkered wood butts. Gun #1 is choked Imp right and Mod left. Gun #2 is choked to match. Nitro proofed for 2 1/2" and opened to 2 3/4" (not in current proof). The barrels are numbered 16009 and 16010 and are William and Powell marked, indicating return for re-barrel and rework at a later date. The pair are also finely re-stocked in fancy figured walnut. The stocks measure 15 1/8" to the end of the wood, 1 7/8" drop at the comb, and 2 3/4" drop at the heel, with no appreciable cast. Barrels wall thickness on #16009 is .32 right, .35 left, and 16010 is .35 right and .33 left. The pair show an excellent English gunsmith quality refinish, with frames showing 50-60% smokey gray original case colors, 95-98% original William & Powell blue on barrels, reblued mounts and excellent as restored stocks. The case is very good with label. Straps are restored with minor aging. Label or name covered in inset leather of a later age neatly done. A very nice set of classic English pre-war guns with modernization and beautiful stocks for a tall man. (C& R) Est. $7,500-15,000
