Both eprouvettes (powder testers) in this grouping are pictured in color in the exemplary 1998 text EPROUVETTES by RTW Kemper. 1) 10 1/2" SIGNED “W / ALLEN”, pictured & described in Kemper (page 175 and plate 6) as American. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: scan copy of pg 175 on Kemper's book. CONDITION: very good as restocked, missing frizzen, dark iron patina. (02-13793/JS). 2) 9 1/2" FRENCH, SIGNED “A. BERNIER” on wheel, beautiful petite early flintlock w/ serpentine cock, unbridled frizzen, iron mounted like pistol w/ 2 screw sideplate, buttcap & silver wire inlay rear of tang. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: scan copy of pg 175 on Kemper's book. CONDITION: very good overall, mottled gray iron patina stock has a hairline crack at wrist w/ hand worn patina. Pictured in color plate in Kemper’s 1998 text EPROUVETTES. (02-13794/JS). 3) TINDER LIGHTER. 4" boxlock action w/ folding trigger. Totally unmarked, well made utilitarian tool for starting fires, similar have been found in hunting bags associated w/ Kentucky rifles. CONDITION: very good overall, smooth mottled iron patina, mechanically sound & functional. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of John "Tim" Breth Jr. (02-13795/JS). $800-1,200.
