18TH CENTURY GERMANIC FLINTLOCK PISTOL W/ BRASS
W/ BRASS LOCKPLATE. Cal. approx. 67. NSN. Bbl. measures 8 1/2". This pistol appears to be of German origin or made by a gunsmith of traditional German training. Iron bbl. features a hand stippled finish w/ brass bladed sight & built up ring at the muzzle. Brass lock & pan w/ iron cock, frizzen & frizzen spring. Brass trigger guard, butt cap, side plate, ramrod thimble & entry thimble. Sideplate is hand engraved w/ the name, “H.H. BARMEUER”. Wood has a beavertail carving in back of the lock & in back of the sideplate. There is an intricately carved floral spray in back of the bbl. tang. Further carving can be seen around the trigger guard & at the base of the bbl. channel. Wood ramrod. CONDITION: iron parts have a dark patina. Brass parts have been cleaned but have reaquired a mellow, light mustard patina. Stock has a tight crack halfway down the wrist. Lock will not hold full cock. Dark oxidized bore. (01-18465/BF).
