L. LAZARINO. Cal. 61. NSN. The 11-3/4" tapered round barrel is engraved "L-LAZARINO" (working in Brescia CA 1783) on top rib. There is relief scroll engraving at breech end around an illegible cartouche. Lock with arched and rounded plate is fitted with round bodied serpentine cock, inset gull wing semi-waterproof pan, bridled friction frizzen and feather spring with teardrop finial. Lock is engraved with some geometric borders as well as some unreadable maker's marks. European walnut stock with knob grip extends to muzzle and is pinned to barrel. Stock shows considerable relief scroll carving with grotesque faces behind barrel tang and thimble. Furniture appears to be of silver plated brass and consists of heavy knob grip cap with side spurs, trigger guard with foliate finial, multi-pierced scrolled sideplate, pierced crestplate and multi-beaded ramrod pipe and matching thimble. CONDITION: good. Metal showing considerable old cleaning and wear; is presently pewter gray with dark background. Stock has old finish with added oil. Furniture with speckled toning. Bore is pitted.
