Colt 3rd Model Dragoon cut for shoulder stock, .44 caliber percussion revolver, S/N 17352. Good original condition showing patina finish with considerable faint traces of blue and case colors within the overall patina. Very good grips showing cartouches on each side with normal aging. Some minor nicks on the bottom of each side. Colts patent is well defined on the cylinder with about 10% scene remaining along with many dents, mars, dings and area of smoothing to remove dents. All matching visible serial numbers ad original 2 leaf rear sight retained. Sharp address, good markings and edges with clear colt’s patent and U.S. Good action with good bore showing minor erosion but strong rifling. Only approximately 1000 3rd models were cut for stock and issued slightly before the Civil War to mounted rifleman (Dragoons). A better than average an honest 3rd model that’s cylinder saw “Battle use” as a tool. Est.: $3500-$7000
