an exceptionally well-preserved, authentic 1902 experimental mills woven khaki canvas ammunition belt, specifically designed for the . 30-40 krag-jã¸rgensen rifle. This highly collectible piece features a complete row of individual woven cartridge loops, each retaining its original, teardrop-shaped brown leather protective flap and corresponding brass securing stud. the belt end is fitted with its correct, heavy-duty brass adjustment keeper, featuring crisp and clear stamped manufacturer patent markings "pat. Mills & orndorff". The canvas remains structurally sound with tight weaving, showing only minor age-appropriate coloration and light field wear. Crucially, all leather flaps are intact, remaining remarkably supple given their age, with no major dry rotting, tearing, or split buttonholes. The interior canvas is clean and un-unit-stamped, offering a pristine, unaltered presentation piece for advanced military collectors. very good to fine historical condition. The woven canvas body is strong with no rotted sections or major fraying. All brass hardware retains a natural, uncleaned patina. All leather flaps and retaining studs are present and fully intact. A premier example of late 19th-century american field gear that has escaped the typical heavy damage common to surviving leather-flap variants.
