1923 Stoeger American Eagle Luger Pistol, by DWM, #7797o, 7.65 Luger cal., 4.75'' barrel, blue finish, straw finished small parts, factory checkered walnut grips, American eagle stamped on the chamber and DWM on the toggle, with one nickel-plated magazine with a wood base. Right side of slide has ''A.F. STOEGER INC, NEW YORK'' in stamped letters; ''(crown)/N'' commercial proofmark on left side of slide. Thumb safety marked ''GESICHERT'', and extractor marked ''GELADEN'', which are correct for this variation. All visible numbers match; barrel is not numbered. Wood base of magazine is marked with a stamped ''S''. Rare, less than 1,000 produced. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 98%-99% of its original rust blued finish, with only the slightest high edgewear on the frame, slide, and sideplate. Small scratch marks on the side of the frame above the right grip. There is some thinning to the finish on the front gripstrap, with some freckling of rust specks on both the front and rear gripstraps. Strawed finish on the small parts is approx. 90% with some spotting and light wear. The fire blued finish on the transfer bar spring and toggle pivot pins is very good. Grip screws show some light wear. Grips are excellent showing only the slightest use. Magazine body shows some oxidation and dried grease which should clean to very good; wood base is tight with one small ding. Hold-open and safety work properly. Bore is mint and bright, with strong lands and grooves. Est.: $3,000-$4,000. (C&R/PPT)
