1935 VINTAGE VICTOR SARASQUETA SIDELOCK GAMEGUN.

Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 68280. Bbls. 27 3/8" Chopperlump, marked w/ maker's name & address along w/ crowned "VS" running rabbit logo on matted game rib. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ post 1927 Spanish Nitro proofs. Date stamp "H" (1935) is on bottom of right bbl. S# is on loop. Blued sidelock action features non-automatic safety, hidden third fastener, vented strikers, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators & dbl. triggers. Action & lockplates are engraved w/ lg. shaded acanthus within line borders surrounding simple game scenes w/ running doe & two partridge? on left lockplate. Standing doe & two pheasant are on right. Bottom of action depicts a duck flying over a swamp. Rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock of plain European walnut measures 14 1/2" over ribbed horn buttplate embossed w/ Sarasqueta trademark. Point pattern checkering is at grip & vacant German silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R L .723". Restriction: R .012" (IC), L .025" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .026", L .036" . STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 9/16". LOP: 14 1/2". CAST: approx. 1/4" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 10 oz. CONDITION: very good to fine. Bbls. w/ nearly all of a reblack over some scratches & light pits. Action & lockplates retain over 80% original blue w/ some silvering on fences & beads. Stocks are in the process of being refinished w/ light sanding & perhaps some added oil. Checkering w/ many dents & marks has not been recut. Crack on left side of action area running form rear of top tang down & forward toward rear of lockplate for about 1 1/4". Crack flexes slightly. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight.
