RESEMBLING A MERKEL MODEL 47E. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 431774. The Simson company ceased production shortly after this gun was made. 28" Shoe lump bbls. are fitted w/ matted concave rib. Tops of bbls. are stamped w/ steel type & maker’s name (Simson Suhl) “MADE IN GDR”. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ East German nitro proofs "(1/89)" for 2 3/4" chambers. Case hardened scallop backed boxlock action features automatic safety, intercepting safety sears, cross bolt 3rd fastener, side clips, pin cocking indicators on sides & dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ sprays of scroll w/ in stamped geometric borders. Suhl blacksmith logo is on triggerplate. Lightly streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/4" over "Suhl" embossed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a sling loop matching that attached to bbls. is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIA.: Left .726. Right .729.
