Authentic Colt Conversion of 1861 Navy to .38 caliber centerfire with “Original” Tiffany grips showing Civil War battle scenes, S/N 8875. Fully and finely deluxe scroll engraved by L.D. Nimschke. This Colt remains in very good plus to almost fine condition showing most of its original silver-plated finish toned to natural patina. The markings are sharp, and the edges are crisp with all matching serial numbers. The grips are crisp and well defined and are among the most documented in the Colt collecting world. Provenance: The Charlie Schreiner collection illustrated in full color on page 258 “The Texas Gun Collectors Antique Arm Annual 1971”, “The Colt Engraving Book” (Vol I Page 295), and “The Study of Colt Conversions” by McDowell who describes this revolver “As the most often photographed and most valuable Tiffany gripped Model 1861 factory engraved revolver”. A rare opportunity to obtain a museum quality Tiffany with rock solid provenance and long published history. (Antique) Est.: $25,000-$50,000
