Colt U.S. Cavalry SAA revolver, .45 caliber, 7.5” barrel, re-finished for the State of New York by Colt (blue and case hardened) in 1895 per Kopec letter; wood grips (again per Kopec, re-furbished in 1895), S/N 33931 (cylinder #120609); rare L.D. inspector (Lewis Draper); overall very good condition showing blue finish in protected areas and areas of case colors on the frame; very good bore, crisp action, sharp markings and good grips as re-furbished with markings “18” and “6 Battery” on both sides; sub-inspection marking on grips “R.A.C.” applied in 1895 when the grips were re-inspected (per Kopec letter). Kopec also opines that the cylinder was likely “swapped” with its original counterpart when troopers mistakenly picked up the wrong cylinder after cleaning their weapons and indicates “This fact in no way detracts from the desirability of this revolver, as both components originated from a New York militia revolver”.
