Colt U.S. Cavalry SAA revolver, .45 caliber, 7.5” barrel, dark patina to metal surfaces, wood grips, S/N 34239 (with J.T.C. inspection stamps); overall very good condition with a good bore, crisp action, very good markings and grips showing remnants of both inspectors’ cartouches on grips; accompanied by a Colt factory letter indicating .45 caliber, blue finish, barrel length and type of stocks “Not Listed”, sold to U.S. Government, delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt plant on January 10, 1877 in a shipment of 200 guns. Also with this Colt is a Kopec letter presenting interesting information including his comment that “historically, we could not locate this revolver’s serial number in the National Archives records available to us. We do however note that the revolver #34262 (a closely related example) had belonged to ‘Troop C, 5th Cavalry’ as of August 17, 1886”.
