Colt U.S. SAA revolver, .45 caliber, 7.5” barrel, grey patina, wood grips, Ainsworth inspected, S/N 6426 (in a prime Custer serial number range). Accompanied by a John Kopec letter dated Nov. 25, 2005 indicating this Colt came out of Canada and stated “In looking over this revolver, we have noted the replaced grips, base pin and ejector rod assembly (cataloger’s note: replaced ejector rod assembly included with this lot). These metal components were found unserviceable, and the grips were burnt from this revolver. These replacements in my opinion legitimate as long as they are disclosed. We have noted that the base pin screw was at some time in the past removed by sawing a deep slot into the frame. A correct style base pin screw was subsequently fitted into this area. The loading gate has no “bin” number and may also be a replacement from an earlier revolver. (under serial #1000). The finish of this revolver remains an overall steel gray, and has at some time in the past been correctly cleaned”. Importantly, Kopec concludes the letter “The subject revolver had escaped the
