A rare and unusual gilt brass Dragon hilted 19th Century Cavalry Officer's Saber with long engraved 33 inch double fullered blade. Engraved in French with the motto "Neither Draw Me Without Reason Nor Sheath Me Without Honor". Motto beautifully engraved. Etched panel on other side depicts a trophy of arms surmounted by a helmeted warrior. Stirrup hilt with Dragon pommel cast and chased in high relief. Grip is elaborately checkered horn. Overall condition is fine with excellent etching on clip point blade, Hilt retains some fire gilding and original gold bullion knot. Silvered scabbard rates fine with none of the usual dents at the chape. A rare and beautiful saber. From a decades old private collection. Est:$600-800
