High Art Silver Decorated German Percussion Dueling Pistol signed H. Bathelmes in Zella Circa 1845. A massive dueler measuring 18 and 1/2 inches overall with swamped 11 inch barrel. The Damascus barrel beautifully inlaid in silver with maker's name and silver foliage. the breech with silver band. The front action flat lock well engraved with a stag, borders, dolphin hammer engraved and has gravitating safety, Breech tang with adjustable rear sight. Barrel with silver front sight. Elaborate mounts of what appears to be silver with spurred trigger guard having Diana the huntress in high relief. Silver side nail escutcheons. Butt with high relief lion's head in silver within a steel roundel. Figured walnut half stock finely checkered at wrist and high relief carved at fore-end. Condition is fine throughout with much original Damascus finish on barrel, all silver inlay crisp, crisp mounts and good wood. This is a very large High Art German pistol by one of the better known gunmakers. Est:$1200-1800
