Rare half stock plains rifle with breech loading percussion mechanism marked “J.H. Merrill, Baltimore” and last patent date “May 28, 1861” on the lock. 30” medium weight octagon barrel in approximately .52-54caliber smoothbore. Nicely burled and checkered stock with checkering and engraved German silver patchbox. The action, breech loading lever and mounts are engraved en-suite. The action needs minor repair.“R.S. Lawrence” marked Sharps style rear sight. German silver engraved fore end cap and the plate also matching. The condition is very good plus overall with most of its original brown on barrel, dulled casehardening on hammer and just slight erosion and minor pitting near firing areas of breech. 1 of 2 sporting style Merrill rifles this cataloger has viewed in 50 years and this one is the superior example. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs including packing, materials, shipping, 2% of invoice total for insurance, custom fee, duty fees, exporter fee etc. International shipments are sent to an exporter. All oversized, extremely heavy & extremely fragile items the buyer is responsible for contacting a third-party shipping company for shipment. We ship Federal Express; we cannot ship to PO Boxes. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
