19RH-10 DBL PERC A. GIBBS
“A. Gibbs Lancaster PA” marked American combo rifle/Shotgun circa about 1850-60s. Measures 53 ½” overall with 38” barrels. The right barrel is .36 caliber rifled and the left is almost .45 caliber smoothbore. Interestingdifference of sights on the barrel as rifle barrel has Winchester style buck horn with lifter and large blade front. Smoothbore sight is fixed with small blade. Engraved and pierced patch box. Small fox inlay in buttstock with 5 pointed “Texas” style star on underside of fore end. 2 other simple German silver inlays. The rifle barrel has a set trigger and actions work well. Deep brown patina finish with scattered light toslightly heavier pitting. The breech end shows a good deal of firing and use. The stocks are good with light cleaning long ago but no sanding. Small losses along the top edges of stock. A very well recognized anddesirable maker. From a major old Northern California collection. (Antique) Est.: $1750-$3500
