American Flintlock fowling piece with wide butt and hand hewn stock of light color that has a tight and straight grain (Possibly Maple). The bulbous 18th century butt resembles Hudson Valley Arms. The brassmounts are nicely engraved. The barrel shows British proofs (V.P.). Measures 62” overall with a 46 ½” barrel of 12GA. Small brass rear sight and tear drop silver inlay around the front sight blade. The lock is the style ofMid-19th century with light scroll engraving and all original parts. Simply cross cut grooves at the wrist (like checkering but simplistic). The wood is very good plus with minor losses. Slight scratches and normalage. The metal is very good with dark patina. The trigger shows a pronounced curl also 18th century style wit museum or collection numbered in paint inside guard (1377). From an old Northern California collection started in 1950.
