Massive and heavy barreled percussion plains rifle stamped “A. Buselmeir” in very small letters on the left side of the breech. This maker arrived in Quincy, Illinois about 1860 and relocated to San Francisco about 1865.This rifle shows a back action percussion lock with a heavy half round/half octagon barrel in .64 caliber rifled that measures nearly 1 ¼” across the muzzle and weighs 14 ¾ pounds. The barrel shows a gigantic buckhorn rear sight for large game. Iron trigger guard with brass patch box and butt plate. The rear sight has been moved backward towards the breech and the barrel shows plug. Period wood rod. The action needs minorrepair and breech plug clean out screw is missing. Otherwise good to very good overall. This and Sharps listed prior lot were purchased in Happy Camp, CA from a pioneer family whose ancestor used the two rifles tohunt buffalo and bear.
