Finely relief carved Mexican powder horn with raised initials “S.A.”. The body of the horn shows a stand of arms and flags with crest at the center with Aztec style sun above. The crest is divided into 4 equal parts. Theleft shows scales of justice. The right shows flag on front resting on mountain top, bottom left shows horse with left hoof raised, and right shows bull. The horn is 15” across the curve and of generousproportions. Nice patina and dates early to Mid-19th century. Some breaks and small losses to the bottom and plug and some “Worm Holes” in the horn. From an old Northern California collector who purchased near SanAntonio about 50 years ago. Note: The crest should be researched as General Lopez de Santa Ana was affectations and known to fancy crests, regalia and finery. Est.: $500-1000
