Early American Fowler converted from flintlock to percussion and originally full stocked shortened to half stock during period of use. Ketland trade lock with London proofed barrel. Naturally stripped walnutstock with crude pewter fore end cap. The lock plate secured by 2 screws and lazy ā€œSā€™ engraved side plate with brass trigger guard showing acorn finial and simple engraved brass butt plate secured by 2 screws.Measures 50ā€ overall with a 44ā€ smoothbore barrel in approximately 20GA. Small V notch sight on barrel with small German silver blade in tear drop at end of the muzzle. The ramrod ferrells were re-soldered long ago.The action is not holding on cocking. The wood is good with opening and enlargement around forward pin hole and a missing circular inlaid at cheek piece area about the size and shape of a nickel. Slivers missingat the top right edge of stock but otherwise good. Late 18th to early 19th century. From an old Northern California collection. (Antique) Est.: $600-$1200
