Full stock Kentucky Flintlock rifle of large proportions with lock marked “H. Elwell Warranted” and no signature on the barrel. Measures approximately 61” overall with a 45” heavy barrel of .44 caliber rifled measuring approximately 1” across the center of the muzzle and the gun weighs approximately 13 pounds. Double set triggers and fancy brass side plate secured by 2 screws. Large V notch rear sight with blade front sight.Completely original and untouched with dark patina on metal surfaces. The stock is artificially striped and in good condition with incised line along the ram rod area terminating in “squiggly” line. The lockworks when the trigger is set but otherwise does not hold in the notch. The butt is somewhat thick and large and has a similarity to Tennessee and Kentucky made arms of 1820-30s.
